SIS Director Diane Kelly Serves as Honorary Coach for UT Football Team
SIS Director Diane Kelly was the honorary coach for the University of Tennessee football team in its game versus The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Nov. 2 – a game the Vols won 30-7.
This coaching assignment wasn’t just a simple walk onto the field; Kelly first took a tour of the Anderson Training Center and VFL Films Studio, where she learned about all the technology and information sciences that support the university’s athletic endeavors. She even got to see the Lady Vols swim team working out in the weight room (and resisted joining them for a few clean-and-presses!).
“The schedules our student athletes keep are truly inspiring and I was proud to learn of the high graduation success rate they have achieved,” Kelly said.
Kelly also met with UT Athletic Director Phillip Fulmer and UT Head Football Coach Jeremy Pruitt. Overall, she said it was a great experience and truly an honor.
“And, of course, game day itself was amazing – walking in with the team, touring the press and coaches’ boxes, (trying to) cuddle with Smokey, and being on the sidelines for the entire game – were all huge treats,” she said.
