Frank R. Allen
In his positon at UCF Libraries, Frank overseas budget, human resource, facilities, branch and circulation services operations. Prior to joining UCF in 1998, he served as Head, Administrative Services with Virginia Commonwealth University Libraries from 1993 to 1998; and earlier held a one year appointment as adjunct librarian with UTK’s Hodges Library in 1992. Pre MLS experience includes industrial real estate management and commercial banking in Orlando in the 1980’s. Professional involvements include several elected and appointed positions with the Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA), the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) and the Southeastern Library Association (SELA). He currently co-chairs the ACRL/LLAMA Interdivisional Committee on Building Resources. Frank’s research interests center on the economics of information and library facilities design. He is co-author of the book Creating the High Functioning Library Space: Expert Advice from Librarians, Architects and Designers, 2016, ABC Clio/Libraries Unlimited. Frank is a native Floridian, and enjoys running, photography, and hiking in the southern Appalachians. He and his wife met in Knoxville, Tennessee. Their daughter is a high school senior, and son is a junior in college.
