The mission of the Susie McClure Library is to facilitate the leadership, service and social justice education of the American Baptist College community by providing access to quality resources that undergird the professional, academic, personal growth of its students and faculty. Through the use of technology and instruction, the library creates a collaborative and interactive learning center that inspires the community in all area of the lives and presents American Baptist College as a leader in academic research on black church and social justice.
Tasks the student would be expected to perform:
Assist with digitization of archival materials ranging from audio to slides/images. Student will need to be comfortable with taking initiative and exhibiting creativity in putting together digital collections utilizing Omeka open source software. Prior coursework in digital libraries suggested but not required. Experience with WordPress and other digital scholarship tools recommended but not required.
Mentoring provided to the student:
Students will work one on one with library staff and the Director of Library Services to achieve goals and learn systems/workflow. We are a small team and this will be a combination of collaborative/individual work.
Level of interaction the student will have with others in the organization:
Students may have the opportunity to participate in some faculty meetings and other campus events in order to observe how a small college faculty operates.
