Master’s Tuition & Financial Support
The University of Tennessee School of Information Sciences American Library Association accredited online master’s program is among the most affordable in the nation. The following are estimated tuition and fees for the total 36-hour master’s program, based on rates from the 2022-2023 academic year:

In-State and Out-of-State Tuition Information (including Academic Common Market)
Residents of the state of Tennessee and states within the Academic Common Market (ACM) pay in-state maintenance fees. Nonresidents of Tennessee and those outside the ACM taking online classes pay $75 more per credit hour for maintenance and out-of-state tuition. An agreement among states and participating colleges and universities allows students to pursue degrees at UT on an in-state tuition basis.

Notes:
- Maintenance fees (required by all students) are the in-state portion of tuition and serves as an enrollment or registration fee.
- Distance education students do not pay Program & Services, Facilities, or Transportation fees and may not enroll in an on-campus section of a course.
- If an online course has two sections, campus students must register for the section designated for campus and distance education students must register for the section designated for DE.
- Campus students enrolled part-time in a given semester may be charged additional fees based on the number of hours in which they are enrolled.
- Fees for part-time students are pro-rated and calculated based on the number of credit hours enrolled.
Fees for Graduate Students
Graduate Student fees are assessed by the University of Tennessee Board of Trustees annually, and are mandatory. Some fees are required exclusively of on-campus students, while others are charged only to distance students. A detailed explanation of Graduate fees is available on the OneStop website.

Fees for On-Campus Students:
Programs & Services Fee
This fee is used to pay for costs related to several UTK facilities including the Aquatics Center and the University Center as well as Student Health Services, student activities and publications, and the Student Government Association. Payment of the fee is required to be eligible to purchase student athletic tickets. Some programs and services are available only to students paying the full-time fee and others are available to all students. To see the current fee schedule, please click on the link provided above.
Technology Fee
Revenues from this fee provide improved technical resources and services and will be administered by the Division of Information Infrastructure (DII).
Fees for DE Students
Online Support Fee
Online students registered for DE section numbers will pay the current fees outlined in the fee schedule linked above instead of the technology fee paid by on-campus students. For more information about tuition and other fees, visit the UT One Stop Office.
