2011 SIS Hooding Ceremony

The 2011 Spring SIS Hooding Ceremony was held at the University Center Ballroom on Wednesday, May 11. Thirty graduates participated while family and friends watched as the degrees were conferred. The harpist from the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, Cindy Hicks, provided a reverent atmosphere with beautiful music for the ceremony. Food and photographs were the order of the day once the ceremony ended.

Due to the deadly tornados on April 27th,graduates from the University of Alabama School of Library Studies were unable to enjoy their commencement program as scheduled. In their honor, the University of Tennessee School of Information Science tied their traditional yellow rose with a crimson ribbon. A list of all UA SLIS graduates was included in the ceremony’s slideshow. UT graduates signed a banner and brought signed work gloves which will be hand-carried to Tuscaloosa by former UA SLIS instructor and current UT Assistant Professor Rachel Fleming-May. The UA graduates are expected to hold a commencement ceremony in August.
